Why should Christians not be apart of the worldly ways?

As a professing Christian, our life should exemplify the first part of this word, which is Christ. Living a life of the world, which is sin, is not living for Christ. There are many news articles, movies, commercials, music videos and so forth that should not be a part of a believer’s life. Loving the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul makes this step an easy one. Because we are to be Christ centered and not worldly centered. If you are a professing Christian then your actions, decisions, and choices should produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit, Galatians 5:22.

Galatians 5:22-23 KJV, 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

“The fruit of the Holy Spirit is the result of the Holy Spirit’s presence in the life of a Christian.” (by GotQuestions)

Do You Know What Idolatry Is?

Exodus 20:3-4 KJV, 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Idolatry – the worship of idols, images, or anything which is not God; the worship of false gods (Webster Dictionary)

Idolatry is taking God off His throne and replacing Him. The worship of money, nature, animals, education, intelligence, etc. is idolatry.

It is the re-packing with today’s technology that makes it seem different. But all thoughts, words, and behaviors that promotes sin falls under idolatry. (Colossians 3:5-6; Romans 1:18-32).

Choose Not to Battle with Worldly Ways

When we battle with the worldly ways, how do we have victory? We do not allow the ways of the world to influences us (Romans 12:2). Instead, embrace the battle head on and deny yourself the sin that is crouching at your door.

I recently read a book called “My Heart – Christ’s Home“. It talks about bringing every sinful part of your life under the submission of Christ. When we go somewhere or say something or behave in a certain way, would Christ want to be there?

When we ask Jesus into our heart, we are asking Him to come and be our Lord. Therefore, there is no room for conscious sin. We must choose who will serve each day.

Psalm 1:1 KJV Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

When battling, know in Christ you have the victory. God’s word will prepare you to win your battles, but only if you submit your will to His will. Remember, Christ is to be your first love, and He is worthy to put all of your trust in Him. Choose Christ as your first love!

In our bible study called What Does Your Life Exemplify, we have a 4 part bible study on how to live for Christ. We hope and pray you will read them. These are foundational bible studies on how to live for Jesus.

Testimony being delivered from Worldly Ways

A testimony by Walt Heyer shows an example of living for the world and then living for Christ. The world’s way is no longer his way of living. He laid down that old life, and he receives the new life in Christ.

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth

Colossians 3:2-4 KJV, 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
