How to receive or be saved by Jesus

Coming To Christ

Salvation is a question that many ask and want to know what it is and how to receive this?

How can I Be Saved?

Many people ask the question, how can I be saved? When we are saved, we are rescued or set free. The real question is what am I set free or saved from?

Acts 16:30 KJV And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

What Am I Being Saved From

John 8:34 KJV Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

The word servant is actually the word slave. Whoever sins is a slave to sin. Is that you?

Romans 3:9-18 tells us, yes. We are all slaves to sin and are in need of being set free from its captivity.

Free From Slavery Of Sin

Luke 4:18-19, John 8:34-36, and Acts 4:8-12 tell us. Jesus is the only One who can set someone free from the slavery of sin. But why is this needed or a problem?

Daniel 12:2, Matthew 25:46, and Jude 1:7 tells us if we die in our sins we are guilty before God and we will be required to pay God’s penalty for sin, which is eternal death (Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:11-15).

How Can I Avoid God’s Penalty

Matthew 19:25 KJV When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

First accept you can not save yourself. There are no works, rituals, or religious traditions that will cancel your guilty verdict and the death sentence that awaits you. Salvation is the thought and work of God alone.

What Is Salvation

Revelaion 22:17 KJV And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

The invitation is extended to those who are thirsty. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus also describes who the invitation is being given. He is inviting the weary and overburdened. This is those who are mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted. You have worked for love and acceptance but it still doesn’t come. You make changes on the outside but the discontentment in the heart will not go away. Life begins to have no point. It is just one big circle.

Not only are you worn out but it is as if you are carrying around a very heavy backpack that weighs you down and you can’t put down. No matter how much you talk about the burden, try to forget about it, or drown it, it always raises it’s ugly head and seems to get heavier. Jesus knows you are a sinner but do you.

When you do, Jesus says, I can take your guilt and shame, I can set you free from your burden. Only Jesus can deliver us out from under the wrath of God, slavery to sin, and our guilty verdict because He paid the price.

Can I Be Set Free

John 8:31 KJV Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free…. 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

John 14:6 KJV Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

To be set free there is humility of the heart to repent, which is, to turn from sin and turn to God. It is to trust or have faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross. It is:

Romans 10:9 KJV That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Salvation is in the heart not the head. We can not ascend to salvation through knowledge. Salvation is a heart change. Jesus calls whosoever will believe. I pray you call upon the Lord Jesus and tell Him you want to come. You are thirsty, tired, and worn out. He is the only way to be set free.
