In today’s world, it’s not uncommon for people to mock God. We find this in every genre, including the church. Whether it’s through social media, entertainment, or everyday conversations. But are these individuals speaking the truth?
The video below is one of many out there who mock God. They take His word and twist it to fit what they believe and teach you as if it is the truth. In this biblical news, we will approach 2 things;
- What are they doing when they mock God?
- Is what they are saying truthful?

What Are They Doing When They Mock God?
When they mock God, they are denying who He is. People mock God because they hate Him, and they are expressing their sinful, fleshly behavior. In order to satisfy their sinful flesh, they have to change the Word of God to fit what they believe. They are teaching lies, and it is up to us to not be deceived.
Galatians 6:7 BSB; 7 Do not be deceived: God is not to be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return.
So, what does it mean to mock God?
To mock God means that you steal His honor and reputation. He is taken out as the all sovereign God, and they bring Him down to their level.

God in His mercy and grace warns what happens when He is mocked. The sown seed of wanting to be your own god leads to eternal destruction (hell).
Galatians 6:8 BSB; The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
How do we know someone is speaking God’s truth? The only way to know the truth is through the Holy Spirit (John 16:13). When we listen to someone teach scripture, it is our job to pray and study the scripture ourselves. There are many who deceive, and many are being deceived, lacking knowledge and wisdom.
These types of teachings are in the majority of church buildings today. Let’s now learn if what they are saying is the Truth.
Is what they are saying Truthful?
If you are a true believer, then you have experienced God and know His word is Truth. However, many people who call themselves Christians express the truth of God’s word but fall short of what it actually teaches. So, is what they are saying truthful? Yes, in their opinion, what they are saying is truthful. The question to ask is, does God agree with what is being taught?
In the video, both church buildings were struck by lightning.
Was God warning?
2 Samuel 22:14-15 BSB; 14 The LORD thundered from heaven;the voice of the Most High resounded. 15 He shot His arrows and scattered the foes;He hurled lightning and routed them.
Psalm 144:6 BSB; Flash forth Your lightning and scatter them; shoot Your arrows and rout them.
Lightening represents different things in scripture. Including the judgment of God toward those who are rebelling against His kingdom.
In the video, Bruce McLeod says “people have called you Mother Nature, Mother Earth. Today, holy mother God. For you are more than any single description of gender or personality or role.”
Is God more than any gender?
Isaiah 9:6 BSB; For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 64:8 BSB; But now, O LORD, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand.
Psalm 68:5 BSB; A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in His holy habitation.
Matthew 23:9 BSB; And do not call anyone on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.
Romans 8:15 BSB; For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
Mother nature, mother earth do not exist. All good things come from Father God (James 1:17). There are many more verses that clarify, God is Father. Father denotes authority. Get rid of God as Father, and His sovereignty is erased. Denouncing the bible as holy scripture becomes another step in stripping His sovereignty.
The belief that scripture came from men and is full of errors is not new. But is their assessment true?
2 Peter 1:20-21 BSB; 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation. 21 For no such prophecy was ever brought forth by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 BSB; 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.

CONCLUSION
Jesus is the Word (John 1:1-2). The word of God (Jesus) lived on this earth full of “grace and TRUTH” (John 1:14). The word of Jesus will never pass away (Matthew 24:35).
Heresies are taught because the foundation on which the teachers stand is one that does not believe God’s word is holy, perfect, and immovable (John 17:17).
These heretical teachings are everywhere in church buildings. They have the appearance of godly knowledge but they “refuse to love the truth” When truth is hated, God gives them over to a “strong delusion” so lies are believed (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11).

The only way to not be deceived is to know the only true living God and His Son. That is done through reading, studying, and obeying God’s word. Obedience that bows to God’s authoritative commands, not your own opinions.
We are in the last days and mockers will increase. We must know the One we believe and live according to our faith.
