What is the Good News?
The good news for mankind could only come from heaven. Therefore, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,“. His son came to bring this good news and is the fulfillment of man’s need for healing from his brokenness. In order to receive this, “whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” This is the good news of great joy that was brought into the world.
Why does this bring Great Joy?
Because great joy begins with being aware of God’s grace.

As we suffer in our life we look for the purpose of why this is happening. The gospel message is the only thing that will make sense in our suffering. Here enters the good news of great joy.

The joy that is brought to us begins with our awareness of God’s grace. God’s grace is something we cannot ever
earn in our lifetime. It is something that is a GIFT from GOD. Why is this gift so precious and meaningful? Because it opens our eyes to what we deserve, and instead we receive a love beyond our understanding and comprehension. Our gift of grace in faith saves us from the bondage of sin, death, and hell. Jesus is the fullness and the only way to this internal (heart and mind) and eternal (after death, forever) joy. This should bring you good cheer!
Be of Good Cheer!
This brings us good cheer because it is an inner attitude of confidence produced by the Holy Spirit. It is an attitude of unwavering courage even through our sufferings, fears, and circumstances. We can have this inner joy at all times because we know we are not alone in our suffering. And in our weakness, we are the strongest in Christ.
good cheer, 2293/tharséō (“embolden”) refers to God strengthening us within to boldly live out His victory. As the Lord works this bolstering within, we have gumption to live out His “moral-compulsions” and overcome irrational fears (timidity). (HELPS Word-studies)
Christ is the One who came to overcome the world, give us His peace and the courage to be overcomers.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
So the good news of great joy is Christ was born at this very moment in time to bring joy to all who will believe. Therefore, let all believers rejoice always in the Lord through bad times and good, because our joy is on the inside.
