Woman Possessed Knows The Way Of Salvation
Acts 16:25 KJV And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
Paul and Silas are preaching in Macedonia. One day while going to prayer, a slave girl began to follow them. Here is the interesting part,
Acts 16 KJV 16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: 17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
This possessed girl knows they are offering the “way of salvation“. She follows Paul and those with him for awhile continually crying this out. Until one day “…But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour”, Acts 16:18.
You would think there would be a celebration. Well, there wasn’t. Paul’s boldness caused anger because her master lost his way of making money. Instead of celebrating, Paul and Silus were beaten and thrown in jail (Acts 19-24). Paul and Silas respond with prayer and singing hymns.
Is Today The Same Outcome as In The Bible
Today is the same outcome for there are Christians beaten, raped, jailed, and put to death around the globe. Persecution is rising under the illusion we are more civilized. Eventually, everyone will be persecuted for holding to their faith in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 3:12). Paul and Silus saw this as an opportunity to witness in the jail.
Acts 16:25 KJV And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
They sang so loud all the prisoners heard them. We say God takes all things and turns them into good but do we live like we believe it.
Will You See Suffering As Good
God turned a great time of pain and suffering for Paul and Silus into a time of salvation for the jailer. When believers come under severe trials what do the unbelievers witness. Do they see a reflection of their own response or one they do not know.
Acts 16:25 KJV And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
Paul and Silus were hurting and in pain but the truth they knew about their God caused them to look toward the opportunity.
Habakkuk 3:18 KJV Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
Habakkuk knew God was sending horrible things his way (Habakkuk 3:16-17) and he still chose to rejoice “in the God of my salvation“.
Are You Prepared For What Is Coming
Hard times are coming. We know it the same way the prophets of old knew it, God says. Now is the time to put on the whole armour of God. Now is the time to count the cost of the battle.
Revelation 22:12 KJV And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
What opportunities to witness has God put you in?
