What Is The True Meaning Of Christmas?

The Meaning Of Christmas?

What comes to mind when you think of Christmas? Why do you celebrate Christmas? For many of us it will be about parties, food, presents, Santa Claus, etc and for others it will be about one person. This person came to give, share and to tell the Truth. He gave His life for ours!

Psalm 65:2 KJV O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. 3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

Luke 2:10 KJV And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Christmas Today

Today Christmas is celebrated as Happy Holiday. Many want to say Merry Christmas, but they do not. Do not let fear rob you of the special gift God has given us this day. This day is not a holiday to us, this day is the greatest gift ever given to mankind?

Philippians 2:5 KJV Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Gift

Colossians 1:15 tells us Jesus is the image of the invisible God. John 1:14 says, the Word (Jesus) was “made flesh” and lived among people. Jesus was God.

And yet coming to the earth meant the Son of God let go of His glory (John 17:4) and His position and honor. Christ’s glory and His deity was veiled in flesh. He willingly humbled Himself to the position of slave. Instead of His glorious beauty He had no physical beauty.  The honor and glory He knew became rejected, despised, beaten and spit upon.  (Isaiah 53). Jesus gave up what He already and rightfully possessed.

The One who was fully God became fully man. As fully man, for a brief time, Jesus took off His kingly majestic clothing (Matthew 17:1-8).

How Far Was Jesus Willing to Humble Himself

Philippians 2:8 KJV And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Jesus willingly gave Himself as a sacrifice for our sins. His death was not civilized or quick. It was a death of pain and shame. Deuteronomy. 1:23 tells us those who die by hanging on a tree are cursed. Galatians 3:13 says Jesus became a curse for us. On the cross He took upon Himself the wrath of God to pay for our sins.

Christmas was the beginning of something no one could comprehend. Christmas lead to the cross. We know Jesus purely and completely obeyed His Father. How? God raised Him from the dead on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4). Jesus name is Lord.

Jesus as Lord

Christmas is the celebration of the miraculous birth, sinless life, and selfless giving of the Son of God.  Jesus is in heaven at the right hand of His Father. He has returned to the glory of God.

Every tongue will confess Christ Jesus is Lord. Have you confessed Jesus is the Lord of your life?
