Salvation is the work of God rescuing or saving us from standing guilty before God in our sin and having to pay the cost of sin.
Romans 6:23 tells us the cost of sin is death. This is why every person who has ever lived and is living will die. When a person dies physically, they go before God to be judged. And if they die in their sin, they spend eternity in hell.
That is not what God wants, so He made a way for us to spend eternity with Him.
JESUS CAME TO THE RESCUE!
Salvation rescues us from hell and makes us able to go to heaven and spend eternity with God.
Learning About Salvation
Romans 5:8-11 KJV 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
To understand what salvation is, we have to know why we need to be saved. We hear we are a good person we just do bad things but is that true? No, God says that is not true. Romans 3:12 says there is not one person who is good in God’s eyes, and the world is guilty before God (verse 19).
What are we guilty of? Sin 🙁
How Do We Receive Salvation?
Jesus Christ died for the sins of all people, and we must agree with God we are a child who disobeys Him in our heart.
That is our heart loves to sin and hates to obey God, but we would rather not do that anymore.
This is not I am tired of getting into trouble, it is I would rather not be like this anymore and I can’t seem to stop. Then God gives us a new heart that hates sin and loves to obey Him. We receive this through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation removes God’s wrath from us, the blood of Christ pays for our sins, and we are no longer His enemy, but we are His loved one.
Salvation is Christ becoming real to you.
Romans 10:9 KJV That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Ephesians 2:4 KJV But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, 5 even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you are saved!
Is your heart willing to say Jesus will lead my life. I believe in my heart Jesus died for my sins and God raised Him from the dead. Then you will be saved. Tell God today you are a sinner in need of His mercy. Come to Christ!
