What Does Your Life Exemplify, Going Our Separate Ways Part 4

Psalm 1 KJV 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

We have come to the last 3 verses of this Psalm. In the first 3 verses (Psalm 1:1-3) we looked at the character of the ungodly and the focus of the believer. We saw that we as believers are not to be influenced by the ways and words of the sinner but we are to delight in the word of God. The last 3 verses tell us the fate of all who do not have faith in Jesus as the Christ the Son of God (1 John 5:12-13).

There is so much to get from these verses but this is to urge us to examine our life and make sure we exemplify the character of Christ. That is, make sure we are representing the heavenly kingdom of God to those in the kingdom of darkness.

God says I, as a believer, am not like the ungodly.

When judgment comes the ungodly will realize their guilt whereas the believer has had the guilt of their sins removed as far as the east is from the west by the blood of Jesus Christ (Psalm 103:12, 1 John 1:7).

This means no one has the ability or power to justify themselves  before God.

The eternal future for believers and unbelievers is already determined in God’s courtroom. John 3:16-21 tells us, you believe in the name of Jesus as the Son of God you have eternal life. If you do not believe in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God you are condemed already and headed to eternal destruction. Thereby believers know the final destination of the unsaved.

Psalm 73 KJV 3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm. 5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. 6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. 7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. 8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily. 9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. 10 Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. 11 And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? 12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches…

Believer’s watch the success and ease of many who promote wicked acts and seem to have their every whim fulfilled, and we wonder God don’t you see. I belong to you and everyday is a struggle and challenge while I seek You to know and obey You!

Why is this happening?

God answers this way, the wicked will never see their destruction coming and when it comes it is quickly. They do not know what they have faith in is corrupt and dying just like them.

Psalm 73:18-19 KJV  Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction. 19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

Psalm 73 goes on to tell us when we truly see and understand the plight of the sinner we will be ashamed of our jealousy over their temporary success. We will then in our heart know, blessed is the one who walks in the ways of God and loves His Word. We will understand as along as we are in union with Christ we want for nothing. In heaven God is all I will have, thank You Jesus.

Psalm 73 KJV 25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. 26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

As the world fills the cup of wrath never forget why you are here.

Philippians 2:15 KJV That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Jesus is the light that shines in the kingdom of darkness. That makes us, in Christ, the beacon of light and hope to an ever darkening world.
