The infallible word of God means that God knows the end from the beginning. He does not need to know, understand, learn, grow, or change in any way because He is perfectly Holy. For example, the first place we see that God’s word is indeed infallible is in Genesis. God commanded Adam not to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, he did, and since then all humanity now faces death. This shows that God means what He says. So if you are asking, “Is God infallible?” the answer is yes.
Why Does It Matter That God’s Word is Infallible?
It matters that God’s Word is infallible because it proves He is the “I AM”. If God makes one small mistake, then He is not who He says He is. Which would make Him like you and I. It matters that God’s Word is infallible because you will not believe that God is the creator of all.
Psalm 19:1-4 BSB; The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. 3 Without speech or language, without a sound to be heard, 4 their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
Therefore, if God is man, then there is no point in persecuting those who believe in the infallible Word of God. Because He no longer exists, which means there would no longer be an infallible word of God.
There is only one book that has the world in an uproar and in constant debate. That is the Holy Bible, which is written by God. If this is not true, then why do people hide, burn, or banish the word of God. Because it proves that God exists and He is infallible!
God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19).
God’s word will stand forever (Isaiah 40:18, Matthew 24:35).
What is the Purpose of the Infallible Word of God?
The purpose of the infallible word of God is to teach us useful things. Such as it shows us:
- when we displease God,
- think immorally, and
- behave unrighteously.
2 Timothy 3:16 BSB; All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.
Which means the purpose of the word of God is to show, reveal, and convict us of our sin through the Holy Spirit. We cannot know the sin we are being convicted of without knowing the word of God. Because the word of God is to instruct and guide our lives in His righteousness. Therefore, we must believe God’s word is God-breathed to accept as infallible truth, John 17:17.
God breathed is Him communicating what pleases Him through the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:13). The word of God is not the personal interpretation or thoughts of those who wrote it. It is literally the Word of God (2 Peter 1:20–21). It is only by faith in Christ that we are forgiven of our sins and made righteous before God.
How Do We Know the Bible is Infallible?
We know the Bible is infallible when we come to Christ and accept Him as Lord and Savior. By faith in Christ, we receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will teach us that God’s word is the inerrant truth of God. A man without Christ cannot or will not accept this (1 Corinthians 1:18).
2 Peter 1:19-21 BSB 19 We also have the word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt. And you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation. 21 For no such prophecy was ever brought forth by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Where Does the Bible Say God is Infallible?
In the Bible, it says that God is infallible in many places; however, you will not find this exact word. Instead, you will find the synonyms for this word. Such as true, perfect, unfailing, accurate, and omniscient. These words also mean infallible.
The word infallible also means;
- True – Psalm 119:160, Psalm 1:42, John 17:17.

Numbers 23:19 BSB God is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?
