News today involves spreading lies and keeping people in a certain state of mind. One of the ways they do this is by changing the way scripture is written.
Isaiah 5:20 KJV Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
How many times a day do we hear good being called evil and evil being called good? The darkness and lies are being spread throughout all media outlets. In Exodus another generation experienced this darkness as well. What happened?
God Gives Light to Israel
Exodus 10:21-23 NASB1995 21 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even a darkness which may be felt.” 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days. 23 They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, but all the sons of Israel had light in their dwellings.
The church has not replaced Israel. But as believers we are light in darkness. Everyone either lives in darkness, not being able to see, or in the light (Jesus Christ). God did not allow the darkness to engulf Israel. And neither will those who live in, through, and for Jesus Christ be engulfed in darkness. So, how do we keep our minds clear and our hearts calm?
Church Today Should Focus on the Light of Christ
The church has one focus, worship in spirit and truth who is the only true living God. Believers have one mission, to abide in Christ Jesus as we look for His return. Which leads to one outcome, obedience to Jesus Christ through love. When that is right, the truth will be spoken. And we will, through God’s will, help others in a godly way in order to glorify God.
It is our fellowship with God that gives us the boldness to proclaim the whole counsel of God’s word in order to stand in opposition to the lies. We battle against darkness but we are not of darkness anymore. And His truth and light will prevail.
1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 NASB1995 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; 5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; 6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.
Be encouraged, for darkness will not overcome us. Remember we have the Light in us. We walk with the Light, Jesus Christ. And we have a lamp to guide us, God’s word.
Allow the Holy Spirit to Guide Your Walk
Each and everyday the power and the guidance of the Holy Spirit prepares us for the marriage supper of the Lamb. In the meantime, let us make sure prayer and trust in the Lord remains first and foremost.
Ephesians 6:10-12 NASB1995 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places…..
18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, 19 and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
