John MacArthur’s statement about Beth Moore brought out emotions, loyalty, and opinions. All of this is about a situation that took place at “Truth Matters Conference” by John MacArthur. Below is a video of what was said and occurred at this conference.
John MacArthur responds to a one word panel discussion at the “Truth Matters Conference“. The one word given him was Beth Moore.
You can read more about what happened on many websites. John MacArthur’s statement for many was offensive but the focus is to be on the Truth, what God says. Statements that are driven by feelings are not necessarily what God says. What foundation are you standing on? Is it one you are willing to lose everything for? When I was first saved I did not know about this issue. But the Baptist church I was going to went to war over this issue. When ask what I believed, I believe whatever God says. I answered that way because I did not know the answer at the time but I knew obeying was what I would do.
Joshua 24:15 KJV 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Matthew 25:33 KJV His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
This topic and the response has caused big waves. Is this necessary?
Beth Moore In the Beginning
Being saved close to 50 years old means I had lots of experience with sin but very little knowledge of God or His word. What I did know was I didn’t deserve to know God or be saved through His grace but His mercy was given to me. I know God expects me to grow in knowledge, love, and maturity towards Him. In a Baptist church Beth Moore bible studies were it. I bought many of her bible studies, and as a matter of fact, I still have them.
As a new believer her studies gave me insight but as I began to mature in God’s word, they seem to have strayed from what they once were. I started looking up the scriptures for myself in Greek and Hebrew. What I discovered was, instead of coming up to God’s word in thinking and seeing, God’s word is brought down to people’s way of thinking and seeing. So, when I went back to the first ones it wasn’t Beth Moore that changed but me.
This is important because when scripture is related on man’s level and not God’s, who becomes the authority. It is people, culture, societies idealism, etc. I, myself, teach bible studies. This is not about guys who come to our website and read our stuff. What we are seeing is the ignoring of what God says about women being in a position of authority over men. Why is it this way?
I don’t know. I do know God has ordained things this way. God’s way creates order not chaos. Look at all the chaos everywhere because of such rebellion against God’s word in the name of experience, emotion, and rights.
What Does God Say About Women Pastors
There is much emotion attached to what was said but the only concern for believers is, what does God say?
1 Timothy 2:12 KJV But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
In plain English, God says, women are not to usurp authority over men. Women are not to be pastors or the head of a church. However, between the perversion of “man is in charge” and the watering down of God’s word something really important has been lost.
God is forever faithful to His word
Psalm 119:151 KJV Thou art near, O Lord; and all thy commandments are truth. 152 Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever. 151 Thou art near, O Lord; and all thy commandments are truth. 152 Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.
