These articles make it clear Israel is seen as a nuisance and intruder. Man believes it was his idea to re-create the land of Israel and 68 years later has decided it was a bad idea. Each has their own view on how to get rid of Israel, the “occupier.” Israel is attacked with physical violence from their neighbors and the international community attacks their economy and character. They are cited for human rights violation even though they be-head no one, warn their enemy before attacking, and give medical aid to the wounded opposition. Islam believes Israel is occupying their land. This belief comes from the Qu’ran teaching that Ishmael was the son saved from being sacrificed by Abraham, not Isaac. They believe the land covenant was made through Ishmael and the land belongs to them. Israel is surrounded by Muslim countries that are demanding they give up land and get out. The international community agrees with them. They both want the same thing, they are working through different avenues. With all the energy that has been expended into this situation for such a long time, you would think some progress would be made by now toward peace. But the only progress is Israel has gotten smaller by giving away land for the elusive peace and Iran has become more confident and powerful. The real question is how has a country so small and surrounded by such hostility managed to survive. Israel has not only survived for 68 years but is a flourishing, prospering, and a victorious nation. The viewpoint of man and religion has no bearing on the viewpoint of God.

Isaiah 66:7-8 7 Before [Zion] travailed, she gave birth; before her pain came upon her, she was delivered of a male child. 8 Who has heard of such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? Or shall a nation be brought forth in a moment? For as soon as Zion was in labor, she brought forth her children.

Israel was reestablished as a nation according to God’s Word. On May 14,1948 Israel was reborn in one day. The following three things happened in 24 hours:

  1. The United States recognized Israel as a sovereign nation.
  2. The British control of the land ended when the U.N. mandate expired.
  3. Israel declared her independence from foreign control.

Ezekiel 37:21-22 21 Then say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations to which they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land. 22 And I will make them one nation in the land, upon the mountains of Israel, and one King shall be King over them all; and they shall be no longer two nations, neither be divided into two kingdoms any more.

When Israel became a nation in 1948 they did so as one nation. Israel is no longer divided between north and south. The Jews are coming home to a united land.

Jeremiah 31:10 Hear the word of the Lord, O you nations, and declare it in the isles and coastlands far away, and say, He Who scattered Israel will gather him and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.

Israel has been attacked by nations greater than them and nations have aligned together to destroy her. Israel is still actively threatened and bombed every day and yet she stands stronger than ever. Israel will see much suffering in the future but will not be destroyed again.

Zechariah 8:1-8 1 And the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying, 2 Thus says the Lord of hosts: I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath [against her enemies]. 3 Thus says the Lord: I shall return to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem shall be called the [faithful] City of Truth, and the mountain of the Lord of hosts, the Holy Mountain. 4 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Old men and old women shall again dwell in Jerusalem and sit out in the streets, every man with his staff in his hand for very [advanced] age. 5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets. 6 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Because it will be marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days [in which it comes to pass], should it also be marvelous in My eyes? says the Lord of hosts. 7 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will save My people from the east country and from the west [the country of the going down of the sun]. 8 And I will bring them [home] and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God in truth and faithfulness and in righteousness. Peace is coming to Israel. It will not be through any politician, treaty, two state solution, or talks. Peace is coming to Israel and Jerusalem when Christ Jesus rules and sits on His throne in Jerusalem.

Do not worry about Israel, pray for the peace of Jerusalem and know God keeps His Word.
