Israel The Promised Land Being Denied
"The 20th Century Rebirth of Israel Pictured in Maps"
Israel was uprooted from its national homeland and dispersed to the far-flung distant corners of the entire world in 70AD, and the subsequent Bar Kochba rebellion in 135AD. The Roman conquest of Israel marked the end of the historic second possession of the Promised Land by the Jewish people. From that time until May 14, 1948 the Jewish people never enjoyed the beneficence of having a homeland. In fact Rome changed the name of ancient Israel to Palestine in an effort to erase the name of Israel from world memory. The Romans renamed the land “Palestine”, a Greek term derived from the ancient Philistines. The name “Palaistina” actually means, “the land of the Philistines. And so it is that the association of the word Palestine came to be connected to the Promised Land..... [read more]
The Liberal Democrats on Thursday suspended the membership of former MP Baroness Jennifer Tonge two days after she hosted an event, at the British Parliament’s House of Lords, which has been called out for airing anti-Semitism. The Israeli Embassy in London slammed the event for giving voice to "racist tropes," including accusations of Zionist power over the parliament and Jewish responsibility for the Holocaust. The meeting was held at the second chamber of the UK Parliament in Tuesday night..... [read more]
In 1917 the Balfour Declaration declared support for Jews to have a homeland. The original land to be given was larger than what was given.
Today, antisemitism is on the rise again to the point that the holocaust is denied, Jews are blamed for the holocaust, and now Britain should apologize. This is not new, the day Israel became an independent state they were attacked by Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq to erase Israel.
The unrest in the middle east has not stopped up to today and will not stop until Christ comes. Israel was not and is not welcomed, they are seen as an unwelcome intrusion. This is why they are called occupiers.
The truth is, Palestine never existed. The Romans hated the Jews and they wanted to erase the name Israel. So, they renamed Israel to Palestine.
Why Palestine? Palestine is from Greek Philistine. The Philistines were an aggressive enemy of Israels. However, there are few who want to know the truth. Israel's enemies are near and far. The leaders of many nations, countries, and churches are turning their back on Israel. This is no surprise to believers in Christ Jesus.
Zechariah 12:1 This is the prophetic revelation, the Lord’s word about Israel. The Lord—who spread out the heavens, laid the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit in a person—says, 2 “I’m going to make Jerusalem like a cup of wine that makes all the surrounding people stagger. They will attack Judah along with Jerusalem. 3 On that day I will make Jerusalem a stone too heavy for all the nations to lift. All who try to lift it will be severely injured. All the nations in the world will gather to fight against Jerusalem.” 4 The Lord declares, “On that day I will strike every horse with panic and every rider with madness. I will watch over the people of Judah, but I will strike all the horses of the nations blind. 5 Then the leaders of Judah will think to themselves, ‘The people who live in Jerusalem are strong because of the Lord of Armies, their God.’
Zechariah 12 is a prophecy concerning the future of Israel. This prophecy lines up with the news headlines concerning Israel and Jerusalem. The events leading up to the attack on Israel and Jerusalem are coming at a faster pace each year.
The nations of the world continue to ignore God, the Creator of heaven and earth. But God has not forgotten His everlasting covenant with Israel nor Jerusalem "the city of the Holy One of Israel."
Isaiah 60:14 The sons of those who afflicted you shall come bending low to you, and all those who despised you shall bow down at your feet, and they shall call you the City of the Lord, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
Believers in Christ Jesus look at the events of the world differently.
Titus 2:13 looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Israel has had enemies from the moment God renamed Jacob to Israel. Once again people think they can ignore God's sovereignty. The Romans attempted to wipe Israel off the earth and it hasn't stopped since. Today we see the same scenario occurring. Why is this happening? Because scripture tells us there is coming a time when all the nations will look to destroy Israel and attack Jerusalem.
Psalm 83:4 They have said, Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be in remembrance no more.
This is setting the world up for the tribulation period and the seven year peace treaty. Nothing will go as man has planned because the plan of God has already come to pass in eternity.
