Governor in Virginia States “they don’t need to be in church for God to hear their prayers”

Home / Daily Biblical News / Governor in Virginia States “they don’t need to be in church for God to hear their prayers”

Believers have been a nuisance to the world from the very beginning. Stephen was the first person martyred for his faith in the Son of God. (Acts 6-7). And the harassment and killing of believers has not stopped since then. This raises the question, why? Well, Jesus makes it plain those who truly accept Him as their Lord and Savior will be hated just like He is hated (Matthew 10:22; 24:9; John 15:18). Also, anyone who perseveres to live a godly life will be persecuted (2 Timothy 3:12).

Persecution has a way of sneaking up on us when we are not looking. In article titled “Governor: Christians don’t need to be in churches“.

“Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam told Virginians Thursday that they don’t need to be in church for God to hear their prayers.”

“This year, we need to think about what is truly the most important thing,” the governor said. “Is it the worship or the building?” by WND

He makes as if what he is saying seems truthful. Is what was said true? Does God hear prayers outside of being in church? Yes, He does. But why the urgency to get rid of churches (John 3:16-21). There are many in positions of power who are against believers gathering. How are believers to see this?

Matthew 22:37 KJV Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Hebrews 10:23-25 KJV 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Loving God first, last, and only leads to the loving of others. Our coming together with other believers encourages, comforts, strengthens, and keeps us focused on our true home, heaven.

The more they push against God, I encourage you;

Colossians 3:1 NASB Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
