1 John 3:1-2 KJV Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Behold, the Holy Spirit says. Look at the very way God loved us. Seek to see the depth and richness of God’s love for and toward us. We especially, at this time, need to focus on who we were when God loved us. It is eye opening to pray to know the true meaning of God’s love for us.
Scripture describes God’s love beautifully in many places. But these verses say so much.
Ephesians 3:14-21 KJV 14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
This love is not “I love you with the love of the Lord.” Nor is it,”I love you because God says I am to.” We were God’s enemy when He loved us, died for us, and saved us (Romans 5:10). Meaning, God loved us first (1 John 4:19).
Paul knows this love and he prays for us to become intimately acquainted with the love of Christ. Search the greatness of His love toward us. Grasp how wide, high, deep, and long His love expands. God’s love can not be understood correctly in the natural. Therefore, the world can not understand this love.
But we can know God’s love supersedes our past, present circumstances, and holds our future. We pray to grow deep into the rich mercy God has for us because of the greatness of His love. Which we benefit from. His love brought us from death to eternal in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:1-4).
In this day and time we need to be rooted and grounded in this love. Our assurance of eternal life through this love will reflect our new birth, new name, new citizenship, and being a new creation 2 Corinthians 5:17).
Let us rest in the love of our Heavenly Father. We have an eternal Father who has plans for us that are higher than our thoughts, desires, and dreams.
Praise and worship God for who He is. Not for what you trying to get. Give your life to praise and worship of God for His holiness, mercy, love, and hope which He chose to bestowed upon us. Our life should be a testimony of the good news of God.
1 Timothy 1:13-15 NASB1995 even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; 14 and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are foundin Christ Jesus. 15 It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all.
This is Paul’s testimony of repentance and faith. He had a clear view of his unholiness and God’s perfect holiness. His gratitude and thanksgiving pours out in love, worship, and praise.
Be still in these difficult times of uncertainty and fear, to know God’s love.
Through faith in Jesus the Messiah we are now embraced and enfolded into a love that “ surpasses all understanding.” We obey, follow, and want to be in the presence of those we love. I pray you love the Lord God with all your heart, mind, and soul (Matthew 22:37). The righteous life of obedience and humility flows from
faith, hope and love.
Psalm 34:1-3 NASB1995 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul will make its boast in the Lord; The humble will hear it and rejoice. 3 O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.
