Don’t Allow Darkness to Win

Colossians 1:13 KJV Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

This is part of a prayer Paul is praying for the church of Colossians and really all of the church body. This is a prayer of thankfulness to God the Father and His dear Son for all they have done for us. It is a prayer to remind us of what we have been given through the cross of Christ. It is a prayer that does the heart good to read because we live in a time when sin seems to be abounding as they did. The true gospel of God is being slaughtered, covered up, and demolished. It is a prayer to remind us to suffer with joy knowing Jesus is coming to take us where He is. We need this prayer because though we have been taken out of the kingdom of darkness we live in a world that is ruled by the kingdom of darkness, the Prince of the power of the air, Satan. As we near the time of our Lord’s return the evil of mankind will grow worse and worse and we will be of no use if we are focused on the wind and rain hitting our face and looking at the size of the waves. We will go down just like Peter did.

Each one of us was created by God and re-created in Christ to do His good works in His plan and on His path. Well, that path is very narrow. As believers we will be seen as narrow minded because we will not be moved from our faith and loyalty to Jesus Christ. This will become harder and harder as evil grows, Satan knows his time is short, and unbelievers do not believe God’s word is the only authority on how to live before Him.

Colossians 1:16 KJV For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist

Everything, seen and unseen, is under the authority of Christ, God. Nothing takes Him by surprise or is able to overpower or stump Him. God has a plan and whatever is or will happen is part of God’s plan. We must make sure we are growing in the knowledge and wisdom of God, growing from faith to faith, and maturing in Christ.

Colossians 1:5 KJV For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
