Sixth Seal - Earth Trembles, Terror Emerges & Physical Change has Arrived
Revelation 6:12 KJV And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
The sixth seal tells us of the following events:
- There will be a great earthquake
- The sun will become black
- The moon will be blood red
- The stars will fall like unripe figs fall from a fig tree when there is a strong wind
- The sky will seem to disappear
- Every mountain and island will be moved from where it is
The Peoples Response
Everyone from rulers to slaves and rich to homeless will hide in caves and in the rocks of the mountains. The wrath of Christ is upon the earth and the fear of the people will be so great they will want the rocks to fall on them. The final judgment of the people has come and they know it is God and they are powerless against Him.
The four horseman that will be sent create havoc through people but these events are apart from the human hand. These events can not be brought about nor stopped by the people. They will find themselves engulfed in a time when the earth and heavens are being shaken and displaced.
We also find this event in Isaiah 28:18-29
KJV 18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. 19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.....
God is going to bring His judgment and His wrath upon the earth and those on the earth. This is a prophecy of an event that did happen and also has future application.
God had prospered His people greatly and because of this they forgot God, they did not need Him. The God Who had blessed them abundantly was exchanged for idols, they became disinterested in God's word, and fooled themselves into believing they had caused their prosperity.
The time came when God's judgment did come upon them. Remember, Isaiah was not only told of the immediate judgment but of judgment to come in the far future.
Verse18-19) Israel will make a seven year covenant with the "Beast". This will be a covenant with death and hell will be unleashed 3 1/2 years later.
verse 20-29) Things will not be as they appear and all will go wrong.
God's judgment is His strange work and act. God warns before He sends His wrath and judgment.
We are in the time of warning. The world is embracing and insisting sin is to be accepted as normal and good. Society is becoming a people of death.
Yes, sin has been active since the disobedience of Adam with the payment of sin being death. And from the time of Jesus the Christ here on earth, the apostles continuing His work after His death, resurrection, and accession back to heaven, and to all those who are preaching and teaching the true Gospel, there has been some place that stood for life in Christ.
But now evil is lurking more prominently and aggressively. In our time there are ways of pumping evil into every corner. The warning signs are everywhere and warnings are being expressed through many outlets. Do you see and hear them? But for today...
Isaiah 61:1 KJV The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Luke 4:16 KJV And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Isaiah foretold of the Messiah's coming and Jesus the Messiah read Isaiah and told those listening, He is the fulfillment of that scripture. He is their Messiah.
We still live in the time of the favor of the Lord. But do not let this fool you because the rest of the verse in Isaiah says...
Isaiah 2 KJV And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
The first coming of Christ was to seek and save the lost. He came to be the Way of having peace with God and to bring us out of spiritual death to life eternal. But just like the Jews who perverted God's word, the church is doing the same thing on a large scale.
Do you believe God no longer punishes? That there will be nothing but love and tolerance for disobedience? Do you believe God has only one attribute, love? Do you believe God is all about you and making your life one of ease, comfort, and meeting all your wants?
God Has a Different Viewpoint
Romans 2:4-5 KJV 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? 5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Israel did not want to hear God was going to allow them to come under His judgment by allowing their enemies to defeat them.
The same is true today.
The character of God is being perverted and when the truth of God's character is being spoken it is...
1 Corinthians 1:22 KJV 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
The true Gospel of Christ, the true state of man's depravity in sin, and to apply all of God's character and attributes is offensive.
For those of you who have ears to hear, God promises those who read aloud, those who hear, and those who obey what is written in Revelation will be blessed. Of course, His whole word is a blessing, but in this time the book of Revelation is avoided like the plague. How interesting God is.
