Truth About Jesus - The Great I AM Part 3
Bible - Written word of God | Jesus - Living word of God
Exodus 3:13 ESV Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" 14 God said to Moses, "I am who I am." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel: 'I am has sent me to you.'"
The Old Testament prophets, inspired by the Holy Spirit, told of a coming Messiah. Jesus the Messiah came and He described Himself in many ways including, I AM.
God called Moses to Egypt to set the Israelites free from being under the bondage of Pharaoh. Moses ask God, who do I tell the people sent me. God calls Himself, "I am who I am,...I AM has sent you."
God describes Himself, I AM That I AM.

II. Descriptive Names of God in the Old Testament
5. Yahweh (Yahweh):
(5) ...It does not express causation, nor existence in a metaphysical sense, but the covenant promise of the Divine presence, both at the immediate time and in the Messianic age of the future. And thus it became bound up with the Messianic hope, as in the phrase, "the Day of Yahweh," and.... were applied by the New Testament as titles of Christ.
9. I AM That I AM
....The name of the Deity given here is similar to Yahweh except that the form is not 3rd person future, as in the usual form, but the 1st person person (ehyeh), since God is here speaking of Himself. The optional reading in the American Revised Version, margin is much to be preferred: "I WILL BE THAT I WILL BE," indicating His covenant pledge to be with and for Israel in all ages to follow.
God's description of Himself is:
An existence different from all other existence; I AM...and there is none else (Isaiah 45:6)
An independent and unconditional existence, from which all other is derived, and on which it us dependent. (Both from, All Messianic Prophecies of the bible, p.39)
God in this name declares now and all time help for Israel and a future promise. The future promise is found in 2 Samuel 7:9-16
2 Samuel vs 9-10) And I have been with you wherever you went and have cut off all your enemies from before you. And I will make for you a great name, like the name of the great ones of the earth. 10 And I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them, so that they may dwell in their own place and be disturbed no more. And violent men shall afflict them no more, as formerly,
God is reminding them of His promise to give them land
2 Samuel vs 13) He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
David had a son of his own which was Solomon. Here is the promise of another Son from his lineage.
2 Samuel vs 16) And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.'"
This Son will establish a house and kingdom forever and He will rule forever from the throne. Matthew establishes this is Jesus.
Matthew 21:9 ESV And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!"
Hosanna-5614- a transliteration of the Hebrew term (hosi-ah-na) meaning "Oh, save now!" or "Please save!" (HELPS Word-studies)

(Strong's Exhaustive Concordance)
The people called out the messianic title, "Son of David." They were shouting:
Psalm 118:25 NKJV Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity. 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
Did Jesus call Himself, I AM? In John 8:48-59 we find Jesus talking with the Jews. The religious leaders were having big problems with His miracles and words. They accused Him of getting His power from Beelzebub, Satan. They are still on that same thought here. They tell Jesus we are right about you being a Samaritan and having a demon.
Jesus says- If you know Me and keep My word, you will not die.
Religious leaders - Now we know You have a demon. Abraham and all the prophets died. Who do You think You are?
Jesus says - Abraham couldn't wait for My day to come. He saw it and it made him happy.
Religious leaders - No way! You're not even 50 years old. How could You see Abraham?
Jesus says - This is the truth, before Abraham was born, I AM
Religious leaders picked up stones to stone Him. Why? They knew Exodus 3:15 and thereby knew He was calling Himself God, Yahweh.
Where do you stand on this? Do you believe Jesus is God in the flesh or are you a stone thrower? Jesus says seven times in the book of John, I AM, and each one draws a picture of our living Lord God.
