Truth About Jesus - The Word Part 1
Bible - Written word of God | Jesus - Living word of God
For over a year I have been compelled to write that Jesus and the bible are in essence, one. The bible and Jesus are so misrepresented today from the new translations in that they either leave out or change who He is, to teaching false doctrine. I began reading a book by Herbert Lockyer, thick book, that put together the "Messianic Prophecies". This will not be in-depth but to bring us to full acceptance Jesus is the Word of God.
John 1:1 AMP In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. 2 He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God.....
14 And the Word (Christ) became flesh, and lived among us; and we [actually] saw His glory, glory as belongs to the [One and] only begotten Son of the Father, [the Son who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, who is] full of grace and truth (absolutely free of deception).
This tells us Jesus is the Christ, the Word, God in flesh, the Son of God, and has always existed. No beginning and no end, eternal self-existing.
This is our Lord, Savior, and God. This is the One in whom we put faith, worship, and praise. This is the One Who is able to take us from eternal punishment to eternal life. This is the One in Whom our life's are to glorify.
John 20:30 AMP There are also many other signs (attesting miracles) that Jesus performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written so that you may believe [with a deep, abiding trust] that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the Son of God; and that by believing [and trusting in and relying on Him] you may have life in His name.
The bible was written for us to believe that Jesus is the Messiah and have "life in His name."
John 5:39 AMP You search and keep on searching and examining the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and yet it is those [very Scriptures] that testify about Me;
The written word of God testifies about Jesus, the living Word of God.
Testify - an eye or ear witness (Strong's Concordance)
The whole bible is an eye and ear witness to Christ. When Jesus said scripture, there was no New Testament thereby the Old Testament is as much about Christ as the New Testament. There are many prophecies in the bible, some have come to pass and there are those that will come to pass.
The Old Testament prophesied there is a Messiah coming and we will look at them. The discovery will be the scripture and Jesus Christ are inseparable, they are one. We will study this understanding.
Luke 27:27 AMP Then beginning with Moses and [throughout] all the [writings of the] prophets, He explained and interpreted for them the things referring to Himself [found] in all the Scriptures.
John 1:45 AMP Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the One Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote about—Jesus from Nazareth, the son of Joseph [according to public record]."
God made the promise of the coming Savior and He came. The choice is not if He came but do you believe He came.
John 8:56 AMP Your father Abraham [greatly] rejoiced to see My day (My incarnation). He saw it and was delighted." 57 Then the Jews said to Him, "You are not even fifty years old, and You [claim to] have seen Abraham?" 58 Jesus replied, "I assure you and most solemnly say to you, before Abraham was born, I Am." 59 So they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus concealed Himself and left the temple.
Jesus revealed Himself in the Old Testament before He was born on earth. By Jesus declaring "I Am", the Jews knew Jesus was saying He is God.
Psalm 72:17 AMP May his name endure forever; May his name continue as long as the sun; And let men bless themselves by him; Let all nations call him blessed.
The verse actually says - "Before the sun was, His name was YINON"
Herbert Lockyer - ...ancient Jewish commentators agree is a name of the Messiah (All Messianic Prophecies, pg 35)
As we read the prophecies, remember we are studying the eternal, no beginning, no ending and always an existing God.
Blows my mind, how about you.
