Armour Of God Foundation
In our war we face conflicts, battles, and wars each day during our Christian walk. Are you in a battle now and at war within yourself or with others?
2 Corinthians 10:3 KJV 3 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: 2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
These are not new to the world or individuals. As a believer battles and wars are fought with weapons that are not recognized or seen by the world. The weapons of a believer’s warfare is from God and not man. The believers true enemy is not man but the lies Satan spreads against God. The world sees believers as weak and inept, because they do not fight with aggression, arguments, physical weapons, deceit, manipulation and so forth. A believer’s war is with the principalities of darkness, Satan. The more mature a believer is, the stronger their faith, the more intense the warfare will be.
Learn More About Satan
Understand Satan is a created spirit being who tried to be God and lost. He managed to deceive 1/3 of the angels to join his fight to usurp God and sit on the throne. Satan is a very bad loser and he has one mission before God throws him and all his followers into the Lake of fire:
John 10:10 KJV The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Satan has one focus to steal from you, kill everything about you, and keep your life in destruction until he destroys it. Satan’s hatred of God is first found in Genesis 3 and his techniques have not changed. Satan believed he could steal Jesus from the cross, kill His obedience to His Father, and destroy man’s way to life eternal. Instead, the cross of Jesus Christ publicly shamed him and all with him (Colossians 2:14-15). Now, all believers are engaged in spiritual warfare and are called to be soldiers of Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 2:3 KJV Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
As soldiers of Christ Jesus life is lived to please Christ not ourselves. When we walk and speak the true gospel of Christ we will suffer. We do that by knowing God and His Son. We do that by being submerged in His word.
God Tells Us How Satan Deceives
2 Corinthians 11:3 KJV But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
2 Corinthians 11:12 KJV But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
Satan does what he has done since the Garden of Eden. He uses those who pretend to be followers of Christ. He uses leaders to twist God’s word, call God a liar, and through their pride make disobedience to God appealing. They appear righteous on the outside but their heart is far from God. But God has not left us defenseless. He has given us His armour.
What Is The Armour
Ephesians 6:10-18, We will start with verse 10.
Ephesians 6:10 KJV Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
What is it to be strong in the Lord, in His strength and might?
Romans 4:20 KJV He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
1 Timothy 1:12 KJV And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; 13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
The way we are strong in the Lord is our faith.
God is not asking for our human strength, He is asking us not to waver or doubt. He is asking us to be unmovable in our faith through the strength, might, ability, and power of Christ Jesus. Faith grows when Satan sends blow after blow of doubt concerning God being faithful to His word and being able to perform what He promised! We are to fight and refuse to entertain these doubts. This faith in Christ Jesus is the starting place for the whole armour of God. The armour is not useful if there is no faith that it is able to do what it promised. As we look at the armour of God know this, it will not keep believers from trials, tests, persecution, or the misery of this world. The armour of God protects our mind, will, and emotions from sin, doubt, ungodly thoughts and behavior.
Armour Into Practice
Be strong (Strong’s Concordance) – means: I (Christ) fill with power, strengthen, make strong. Impart ability (make able), empower
We are strong when we are in union with Christ Jesus through our faith.
It is through this union that He gives us His strength and makes us able to stand.
In strength – means: dominion (Strong’s Concordance). To perfect, complete (HELPS Word Studies)
Christ’s strength has dominion and is perfect. When life hits us we stand in faith, in union with Christ, and Christ’s strength takes dominion over our fear and gives us perfectly what we need.
Of His might – is from Greek root word “force” and 2192/echo , “have force to overcoming immediate resistance” (HELPS-Word Studies)
In Christ we have all the inner makings to be a victorious soldier over our enemy. In Revelation, Christ told those who are a part of His church, to be over-comers. It is in Christ we have victory and are able to be an overcomer. The attacks of Satan come to every true believer and when he and his ministers masquerade as light, it is the whole armour of God that will give eyes that see and ears that hear to believe and know truth from the lies. Do not think lightly of what will take place when Satan has you in his sights. He is “more clever and crafty than any beast of the field the LORD God made.”
The choice, is your faith and strength in the might of the Lord. Is your faith and union in Christ giving you perfect strength to stand in the midst of the attacks and lies?
The whole armour of God is an advantage every True Believer needs. The first weapon of armour is “the belt of truth.”
