Determine To Seek The Lord

Views 547

It is necessary for us as believers to determine to set our mind to seek the Lord. It is faith in Jesus Christ that has opened this door to us.

1 Chronicles 22:19 KJV Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the Lord.

Colossians 3:1 KJV If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

These verses tell us we are to determine in our mind and heart to seek the Lord God? What does this mean?

Being determined

To be determined to seek God is to set the focus of our mind and the affection of our heart on God. Determination is of the will, so we have set our will and that leads to action.

Matthew 6:33 KJV But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Here is the command from Jesus to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness first. What is the kingdom of God exactly?

Romans 14:17 KJV For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Now we know we are seeking God's righteousness, peace, and joy. Where are these, in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, Spirit of Christ lives in every believer. So, we are determining to seek to worship and know God- the Father, God- the Son, God-Holy Spirit. One God three Persons. What does this look like, small picture?

1 Corinthians 1:30 KJV But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Our righteousness is in Christ Jesus not ourself or our works. The out showing we understand this is, we do not brag about our anything but we have full understanding everything good, profitable, and eternal is Christ Jesus in us.

Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Ephesians 2:14 KJV For He is our peace, ...

Christ Jesus Himself is our peace. This means there is no true lasting peace in our soul outside of Christ. This is a red flag. When your peace is gone you have set your mind and heart in the wrong place and on the wrong things.

Psalm 45:7 KJV Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Hebrews 1:8 KJV But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God was anointed with the oil of joy. Therefore the joy of Christ is our joy. What is the joy of Christ, He loves righteousness and hates evil. To partake in the joy of Christ we must love righteousness and hate evil.

What Does This Mean?

Life in Christ Jesus is a hidden and mysterious treasure that those without faith in Christ do not understand. Our life is lived controlled and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This happens when we set our mind on God and our hearts affection belongs to God. What does this look like and what about our sinful desires?

Galatians 5:22 KJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

How does your emotional life look? Have you set your mind on God in heaven? Do you live determined to kill your sinfulness? Do you blend into the world? The commands are simple it is the determination that is a constant battle.

Psalm 118:6 KJV The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

Hebrews 13:5 KJV Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Simple question, who do you fear, God or man? Where have you set the affection of your heart, in heaven or on earth?
