delusion - firm belief you have that is actually not grounded in reality or truth
- false belief or opinion
- mislead

Delusion is the opposite of Truth that causes destruction because we live continually sinning against God.

Before I was saved my life was a delusion. My inside life did not match my outside life. As a matter of fact they were the complete opposite. What are some examples of delusions we live in? I am a good person, a clean person, I am kind, patient, and giving.

However, without Jesus Christ in us we are not in truth and able to be that person. Why, Because we do not have the power or the capacity to be good, clean, kind, patient or giving before a holy God. We are born into sin not holiness.

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because all sinned.

To learn more about this read "If we are born in sin, how is it fair for God to judge us for our sin?"

When I accepted Jesus into my life as Lord and Savior His word, through the Holy Spirit, began to show me my thoughts were not only lies but were against His Word. At this point my choice was, continue to live in my delusion or accept my delusions were lies.

This is not a quick fix or an easy task, because your talking about a lifestyle being built on lies. In my mind I was kind and thoughtful but my actions were pushy and aggressive. In order for me to live out a life that agrees with my salvation, I must deny myself. I have to lay down my rights, my thoughts, and my opinions. To do this, I walk in humility being led by the Holy Spirit. Why, because the kindness and thoughtfulness is not mine. It is Jesus Christ Who destroys our delusion when by faith in Him He reigns in our heart and mind. I willingly give up control to be controlled by the Holy Spirit Who will teach me and guide me to produce His fruit (Galatians 5). This leads to eternal life reigning in my heart.

2 Thessalonians 2:11 For this reason God sends them a strong delusion so that they will believe what is false,

This is during the Tribulation. It describes Satan as having power to work signs and lying wonders. Those without faith in Christ have not received love of the Truth. God will send them a strong delusion so they believe the lies of Satan. We are not in the Tribulation but Satan is the father of all lies and those who do not love the Truth of God live in delusion. However, God's saving grace is able to destroy all your delusions and deliver you from a life of destruction.

Do you know why you believe what you do? Do you profess to be a Christian and yet do not know what God says yourself because you listen to others only? Do your thoughts, words, and actions agree with God's word? You will not know unless you know the One in whom you believe. Do you know what godly fruit is? I could ask a thousand more questions because I lived in delusion for so many years. The following verses, as a believer, are a start to guiding your daily life.

2 Corinthians 13:5 Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless you fail the test.

Psalm 26:2 Test me, Lord, and try me; examine my heart and mind.

Romans 12:1 AMP Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].

Simply put, do you believe you are living with God as your Sovereign Lord but the truth is you are your own god? That is delusion.

Watchman

Ezekiel 33:6 "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand." (Amplified Bible)
