Are You Brokenhearted

Views 534

This is how the world defines a broken heart and as far as how it feels, this is an accurate definition.

brokenhearted - crushed by sorrow, grief, or disappointment; inconsolable and grievously sad.

A broken-heart is full of pain and sorrow. It will weep with no way to comfort and will lose hope. Our heart feels as if it is literally shattered into many pieces. It is not only emotionally painful but our heart experiences physical pain as well.

Our heart becomes overwhelmed, and the grief and sorrow become to much to bear. There is also accompanying emotions such as anger, depression and even abandonment. Life becomes; how are you going to make it to the next moment, hour or even second of that day? Many search to find solutions through other people or things but there is no true freedom from the heartache nor the mending of the shattered pieces.

My heart was shattered into so many pieces it took quite some time to be healed. Though I would feel alone, Jesus has never left me nor forsook me. When my heart and mind finally stops thinking of the pain then in that quiet still moment Jesus lets me know He is there by me reading scripture, hearing a sermon and/or someone talking to me about what God says.

True Healing

Luke 4:18 ESV "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

From personal experience, Jesus is the only One who is able to set us free from the emotional despair and heal our broken-heart. This is why Christ came from heaven to earth.

He is the good news to those who are:

  • Poor - spiritually poor
  • Captive - a captive (in war)
  • Blind - from 5187- typhoo (from typhos, "smoke)- properly, to blow smoke, cloud up the air; (figuratively) having a cloudy (muddled) mind-set; i.e. Moral blindness resulting from poor judgment which brings furthur loss of spiritual perception.
  • Oppressed- crush, break, shatter

( definitions from Strong's Concordance and HELPS Word-studies)

The biblical definition of a broken-heart [ISBE] ...people who feel their spiritual bankruptcy and helplessness, and who long for the help and salvation of God. Such people are in the right condition to be met and blessed by God...

I found myself to be that helpless and bankrupt person desperately needing to be put back together but never finding the peace and rest I was seeking. The healing of Jesus is like a soothing salve that begins to abate the pain, heal the wound, and mend the hurt. I truly hope you find rest in the Lord and allow Him to heal your broken-heart.

Matthew 11:28 "Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Jesus loves you and He proved His love for you. Won't you allow Him to heal and mend your heart.

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit.

Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

As we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ remember He is no longer a baby but He is our eternal life through trusting in Him alone.

"Keep Singing"

Another rainy day
I can't recall having sunshine on my face
All I feel is pain
All I wanna do is walk out of this place
But when I am stuck and I can't move
When I don't know what I should do
When I wonder if I'll ever make it through

I gotta keep singing
I gotta keep praising Your name
You're the one who's keeping my heart beating
I gotta keep singing
I gotta keep praising Your name
That's the only way that I'll find healing

Can I climb up in Your lap?
I don't wanna leave
Jesus, sing over me
I gotta keep singing

Can I climb up in Your lap?
I don't wanna leave
Jesus, sing over me
I gotta keep singing

Oh, You're everything I need
And I gotta keep singing

Ezekiel 33:6 "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand." (Amplified Bible)
