Are You Afraid Of Surrendering To Jesus

1 John 4:18 KJV For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. 19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

Are you afraid to let God's love into your heart completely? Maybe you understand or know "God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son" to be payment for the sins of humanity, which demanded His death. But love that rich, intense, and selfless seems so over the top.

Then you learn that God is the Sovereign ruler and expects you to surrender all to Him and follow Him "even unto death" if need be and the thought of handing yourself and your life over with total abandonment to Someone with absolute power, makes you feel uncomfortable and way to vulnerable. There would have to be total trust and you did that already and it didn't go well. I mean what would happen to me?

The thing is, our heart hungers for true love, a love that fits so right it is perfect. We are burdened and tired from feeling like it's all on us to earn love. We search and search for the love that fills the gap, gives us rest, and takes away our feelings of abandonment. The love that is completely trustworthy, faithful, and gives us security. Does this love exist?

1 John 4:8 KJV He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

God is love. God loved us when we were unkind, sinful, hateful, unworthy, etc.

Cognate: 25 agapáō – properly, to prefer, to love; for the believer, preferring to "live through Christ" (1 Jn 4:9,10), i.e. embracing God's will (choosing His choices) and obeying them through His power. 25 (agapáō) preeminently refers to what God prefers as He "is love" (1 Jn 4:8,16). See 26 (agapē).

With the believer, 25 /agapáō ("to love") means actively doing what the Lord prefers, with Him (by His power and direction). True 25 /agapáō ("loving") is always defined by God – a "discriminating affection which involves choice and selection" (WS, 477). 1 Jn 4:8,16,17 for example convey how loving ("preferring," 25 /agapáō) is Christ living His life through the believer.

God does not do love, He is love. God's love is not like ours where it is prompted by emotionalism. God's love can not be earned. Jesus paid the cost for us to receive and have God's love put in our hearts. God's love comes from inside Himself not from outside influence.

Psalm 86:15 KJV But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

This love is what our hearts yearn and search for so desperately. Love that is nothing but truth. Will you be a recipient of God's love?

1 John 4:2 KJV Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world..... 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

1 John 5:1 KJV Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

1 John 1:8 KJV If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

God loves the world but it does not mean what is taught. God's love will not overlook unrepentant sin. Jesus the Christ is the only way to God's love, joy, peace, and hope (John 14:6).

Watchman

Ezekiel 33:6 "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand." (Amplified Bible)
